BIG LEAGUE DREAMS

CHEER

On March 12, 2022 Big League Dreams (“BLD”) hosted its first competitive cheerleading event in Cathedral City, California with overwhelming success. Twelve gyms, who brought 60 teams from throughout Southern California, visited the park to compete in this one-of-a-kind experience. Gates opened at 9:00 am with the first team performance at 10:00 am.

BLD Cathedral City had convenient facility and street parking available for guests when they arrived. As guests approached the park festive balloon decor and welcome signage was on display. Upon entry, professional and outgoing BLD staff members greeted guests and then guided them to their team’s personalized, shaded staging areas located in the outfields of Wrigley and Des Moines fields. Maps were also on display to ensure ease in getting around the park. As guests approached their team’s staging area, a breathtaking mountain backdrop could be seen all around as well as iconic signage and images. Tents with individual gym names were one of the ways BLD customized this inaugural event.

The competition took place inside the covered 20,000 square foot pavilion with bleacher seating available for family and friends surrounding the performance area. The cheer organization had ample time leading up to the event to set up their performance stage, sound, lighting and judges table. Matted warm-up areas were in place on the grass field adjacent to the pavilion.

The Stadium Club Restaurant served a variety of food and beverages, while satellite food and beverage stations were set up throughout the park. A wood-burning Tri-Tip station served sandwiches and sides, the smell of the fresh kettle corn station permeated throughout the park, and the snow cone kiosk was a hit amongst children of all ages.

Since the inaugural cheer event, BLD welcomed back The Spirit Championships for a one-day event at the Perris park Saturday, January 21, and hosted a first-time event with The Cheer Co. at the Cathedral City park Sunday, February 12.

BLD is established and well known for hosting weekly youth baseball and fastpitch tournaments, adult softball, the Mary Nutter Classic and indoor soccer. The covered pavilion is large enough to host a wide variety of events.
